Start from scratch.....and not reuse the ';traditional'; rules because they obviously suck.

Marriage does not need a reinvention. People just need to quit trying to find the easy way out of things. They need to rethink things and try more to stay together. Just because things get a bit bumpy does not mean divorce is the only answer. It is not that way all the time. Marriage is worth the effort and work it takes to stay together.





Sure, there are circumstances where divorce is needed, like as in abuse or infidelity on a regular basis. But, not screwing the cap on the tooth paste tube is not reason enough. Not closing the closet door is reason enough. Not picking up your own supper plate is reason enough. Too many people are using these petty things just to get divorce because they see that as being easier than working out the differences.
FALSE. Marriage is fine, it's the people doing it that need the overhaul. People go into marriage with the attitude that it should fulfill all their needs, and as soon as they are feeling unhappy they bail. Marriage is a covenant with God, not just an excuse for a party and presents. It's a life-long commitment, that needs to be honored, and nurtured- especially when we least ';feel like it';.
Couples should have to fill out forms disclosing all personal information.





(eg. finances, diseases, prior marriages, criminal history, etc...)





They should have to pay a mediator to go over these forms with the potential spouses.





If they read and agree with the content of each form, they should sign off on the documents.





If they are determined to need counseling, they should be appointed to go to any counselor of their choice before they are issued a license.

if both parties work outside the home, THERE IS A REQUIREMENT OF 50/50 IN HOUSEHOLD DUTIES!!!





Finances-





There will be a 50/50 split. HOWEVER, this is not always 50/50, but rather based on income. For example, if I make 500 a week and he makes 1000 per week, we do not take out the same amount for bills.. it should be dependent on a percentage.






I have a novel idea--how about everyone makes their own rules to their individual marriage that meet their needs as a couple and as a family.





Oh, wait--aside from love honor and cherish, that's what we already do.
Every marriage should have God in it from the beginning. Also, if both partners work at full time jobs, then the work around the home should be shared.
I think I like the traditional rules. :)
