What is needed for false ideas to be accpted as truth?

a good example is Stalin, or Hitler.

they controlled the media and were able to tell people what they wanted.

basically, if you tell someone something enough times, and make it unrelenting, in most (not all) people, they will begin to believe it, especially if there is no other alternative for them to hear.

religion does this alot as well, when the catholic church was in its hayday (especially during the inquisition), people had non stop barrages of ';facts'; told to them over and over again by the clergy, and as there was no other alternative view point for them to hear, it became truth to those peopleWhat is needed for false ideas to be accpted as truth?
Mix a pinch of truth in with the lies.

it taste sweeter. What is needed for false ideas to be accpted as truth?
willingness to accept it as truth inspite of the fact it is false. Now how do you determine false?
The Bush administration.
An unwillingness to change.
Marketing and media propaganda.
A sound argument.

Possible believable answer to all the questions.
A good sales pitch?
Greed, fear, pride, being a victim, confusion, and a way to reinforce these false ideas over and over again until a person ';believes'; them to be the truth. Very sad isn't it, to see it happening in front of your eyes day after day.
Like santa? Your parents telling you so...

Tooth Fairy? Same thing...

If your talking about religion, christianity in specific, its not a false idea, as I can see by looking around me!
Brainwashing from birth, which has been going on for thousands of years, which has caused uncounted wars and uncountable deaths, and which will never stop because humans as a race are weak and need to have obviously false and impossible ideas to believe in just to function as a society and not collapse into sobbing, slobbering heaps for the simple yet overwhelming fact that we are responsible for our own destinies.
